Whether for cozy reading hours, productive work trips or inspiring meetings - the city library in the heart of Innsbruck is not called “Innsbruck's largest living room” for nothing.
Here, young and old will find an impressive and lovingly sorted selection of 77,000 media and 12,000 e-media as well as 3,000 films for streaming. Most media are in German, but there are also books in English, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Arabic and Turkish. Children's library

The children's library is on the first floor. There you will find books, films, audio books, magazines, comics, newspapers, series, tonies, games and digital offers for all age groups. There is a cozy reading corner and several tables with chairs for browsing through the books. There are large cushions on the floor for chilling out.
Good to know
Use in the library is free. If you would like to borrow media, you need a library card. It is issued in the library for an annual fee. To register you need a photo ID.
Children under 14 years of age require the consent of a legal guardian.
Discounts are possible upon presentation of appropriate proof.
Loan periods
Books and audio books: 4 weeks
Films, magazines and games: 2 weeks
eMedia: up to 28 days
With a library card you can borrow up to 20 media (of which a maximum of 5 Tonies) and 10 e-media items at the same time.
Directions and parking
Public transport: IVB and VVT stops are in front of the entrance. The main train station is a few minutes' walk away.
Bicycle: Cycle paths lead to the front of the house and bicycle parking spaces are available. There is a city bike location opposite Sillpark.
Car: We always park in the SILLPARK garage and combine the trip with a little shopping or a visit to a restaurant. Otherwise you can park in the city's short-term parking zone or in another garage in the city and walk to the library.

Monday & Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m
Wednesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m
Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m
Closed on Sundays & public holidays.
Media return daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m
Telephone Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m
