Christmas Market Innsbruck
Christmas-lit streets with special experiences for children.
The Christmas season in Innsbruck's old town is traditional, romantic and atmospheric. Directly in front of the Golden Roof, the stalls of the Christmas market are nestled next to the medieval houses.
The Offer
The stalls are a treasure trove of Christmas tree decorations, handicrafts, woolen goods and souvenirs. A viewing platform offers a wonderful view over the roofs of the huts. Tower brass musicians conjure up atmospheric moments with traditional Christmas music from the Golden Roof. But a detour to Kiebachgasse parallel to Erzherzog-Friedrich-Straße is also worth it. In December it becomes a fairytale alley.
Children's program
The Punch and Judy show on the market square impresses with a diverse program. The nostalgic carousel is an indispensable highlight for the little ones. In the middle of the market square, children can feel like princesses in carriages or ride an elephant.
The Innsbruck Fairy Tale and Giant Alley in the old town contains 6 newly designed fairy tales in addition to the 24 well-known fairy tale characters. Have fun searching & discovering.
On the fairy tale stage in Kiebachgasse, the Westbahntheater reenacts the most famous fairy tales every day at 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
The Innsbruck Christkindlbahn revives the charm of days gone by. Innsbruck's atmospheric Christmas lights shine outside - inside the children's eyes light up. Riding the Christkindlbahn is a great experience and also free. Boarding can be done at any stop that the Christkindlbahn passes. She drives a loop through the city center. From December 1st to December 23rd every Friday and Saturday from 3.00 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.
You can pick up a colorful painting card at the information stand at Ottoburg.
Time to be silent, to listen, to reflect. Only those who have mastered the spirit can still see the miracles that the spirit of Christmas gives to people.
Food
The stands offer a comprehensive culinary offering. You can choose between tarte flambée, raclette, potato curls, sausages, Kaiserschmarren, cheese spaetzle, crepes, roasted almonds and much more.
