Museum of Tyrolean Farms

Preserve culture, preserve values, pass on knowledge - a journey back in time.

Museum Tiroler Bauernhöfe

In the Tyrolean Farms open-air museum in Kramsach, 37 rebuilt original buildings await you - farms and outbuildings from various valleys - which are attractively embedded in the hilly country with an impressive mountain backdrop.

About the open-air museum

A hike into the past of rural living and working before industrialization. Behind some doors you will be amazed by the stories of the former residents and in many rooms, guests big and small will find exciting things to understand.

Area

8,5 ha

Terrain

Hilly

Circular hiking trail

3,2 km

Duration of stay

2 hours

Information boards in front of the houses, illustrated with historical photographs, bring the life of the rural population back to life. Participatory stations, short films and themed tours for school classes provide younger generations with information about the lives of our ancestors.

Special topics can be discussed on request during guided tours by trained museum staff.

Everyday life in a time long gone

Children experience the Tyrolean Farms Museum in a very special way: with lots of games, quiz stations, puzzles and interactive elements. The old school gives an idea of how strict everyday school life must have been - and the free-roaming animals, the small lake, the cottage gardens and the meadows of the open-air museum create a feeling of very special security. The “Path of the Senses” impresses with its own charm. Children and young people up to 17 years of age have free entry when accompanied by their parents.

PATH OF THE SENSES

A crooked house raises new questions. Game tables invite you to play small games. The log cabin is a popular hiding place. The slackline is a challenge to your own balance and the barefoot path is a tingling experience. At Gasthaus Rohrerhof there is a children's playground for climbing, swinging and sliding.

RALLY

Follow the clever museum mouse through the mysterious courtyards - and solve the exciting quiz!

The quiz material is available free of charge at the museum box office.

Events

The museum offers various traditional events, entertaining festivals, craft demonstrations and tours throughout the year. On Sundays, craftsmen provide insights into the old manufacturing traditions. In the courtyards, musicians play folk music from the Alpine region and the hands-on stations for children and young people offer a wide variety of activities on the topic of “experiencing everyday life”.
